Historically the Armenian Church celebrates the holy birth of Jesus Christ on
January 6. Many countries also celebrated it and there are some Elements common
to many nations include the installing and lighting of Christmas trees,
delicious meals and so on. Each Armenian Christian goes to church and pray for
our God Jesus Christ.
Christmas
in the Armenian tradition is a purely religious affair. Armenians celebrate
Christmas as a public holiday in Armenia. Christmas Eve is particularly rich in
traditions. Families gather for the Christmas Eve dinner which generally
consists of rice, fish, dried fruits and nuts etc. Children take presents of
fruits, nuts, and other candies to older relatives. Santa Claus does not visit
the nice Armenian children on Christmas, but rather on New Year's Eve. The idea
of Santa Claus is for European or American children. In Armenia he goes by the
more popular name of Grandfather Winter.
I wish everyone nice holidays and should all your dreams come true this
Christmas.
